The three field teaching sessions for the students of the Faculty of Forestry in Skopje took place in the period from 9 to 11 June 2015 in the Bregalnica Region. As a result of the established cooperation with the Public Enterprise “Makedonski shumi” and the expressed interest for exchange of experience, the teaching sessions were also attended by representatives of the subsidiaries of the Public Enterprise “Makedonski shumi” in the Bregalnica Region.
The theoretical part of the teaching included presentations by Professor Nikolcho Velkovski on forest management in the Bregalnica region and by Professor Walter Marti on forest administration in Switzerland. Furthermore, Professor Christian Rosset made a presentation about modern applications used in forestry planning, as well as a presentation about biodiversity management in high conservation value forests.
As part of the practical part of the teaching, a visit was paid to several sites on the Malesh Mountains as practical examples of forest and forest eco system management, cultivation and planning where the attendees were given an opportunity for practical use of the applications Moti and Sylvotherque.
The activities are part of the intervention for cooperation between the Faculty of Forestry in Skopje and the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences of the Bern University of Applied Sciences from Switzerland within the Nature Conservation Programme in Macedonia.
