Capacity building training for ecosystem services underway for stakeholders
Module 1 of the Capacity building training for the concept of ecosystem services was held on 24 and 25 March at Hotel Manastir in Berovo. The training consists of 8 modules on different topics, while Module 1 gives an introduction about the concept of ecosystem services.
In the first part of the module, a Farmahem representative presented the goals and the plan for strengthening the capacities and gave an overview about the development of this concept, while a representative of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning presented the current status of ecosystem services in the country.
The second day of the training was reserved for the presenters from the Macedonian Ecological Society who in addition to giving an introduction to ecosystem services (conceptual frameworks, classification, cascade model, accesses and evaluations), talked about some important projects and initiatives for the ecosystem services concept in Europe and the world, as well as about the situation in the country.
The training was attended by representatives of institutions and organizations that are involved in management and monitoring of natural heritage (already established protected areas, those in the process of being re-declared, etc.), as decision and policy makers.
