Our Facebook page So griza do beriket has reached the figure of 40,000 friends and fans of nature! We would like to thank all of you for following our numerous activities in the last few years and to underline some of the results we have achieved and which make us proud:
- 6 new natural rarities have been established in the Bregalnica region;
- 2 Oscar nominations and 30+ international awards for the Honeyland documentary, made as part of NCP;
- Three potential Natura 2000 areas have been identified in the Bregalnica region based on detailed scientific research;
- More than 1,500 seedlings of white poplar and willow were planted to restore the riparian vegetation in the lower reaches of Bregalnica River;
- Two facilities have been established – Educational Centre for Nature Conservation in the village of Negrevo and the Ponikva tourist information centre;
- Support for the process of proclaiming the Osogovo Mountains a protected area – protected landscape;
- Support for the process of proclaiming Malesevo a protected area;
- Three Instagram tours for promotion of the tourist, natural and cultural values of the Breglanica region;
- Support for 43 small projects for nature conservation, sustainable management of natural resources and development of sustainable tourism;
- More than 20 documents were developed (strategies, studies for valorization, brochures, handbooks, analyses…)
- More than 50 trainings, workshops and events for building capacities of stakeholders and promotion of the Bregalnica region’s natural values;
- 22 educational and promotional videos made;
- More than 40 beekeepers were trained for sustainable beekeeping practices with application of biotechnical methods;
- More than 30 farmers were trained for sustainable practices in rice production;
- Two core groups were established for sustainable production of rice (Orizova bratimka) and honey (Honey East);
- 45 centuries-old tree were identified and mapped in the Malesevo Mountains;
- Implementation, assessment and mapping of the situation in 15 subtypes of ecocystems on national level and 15 services they provide;
- The first pilot Regional plan for promotion of forests in the Malesevo Region with Action Plan 2020-2025 was developed with a participatory approach;
- Support for 23 undergraduate/graduate theses by Macedonian and Swiss students for application of new and integrative approaches in forest management;
- The curricula the Hans Em Faculty of forest sciences, landscape architecture and environmental engineering were improved with the introduction of biodiversity and new approaches in forestry;
We will continue to jointly promote the Bregalnica region and to contribute to the conservation of its natural values.
