On 26 October, 2016 in Shtip an expert discussion was held on the Spatial Plan for the East Planning Region – Draft Plan and a public hearing on the Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment concerning the impact of the implementation of the Spatial Plan for the East Planning Region – Draft Report.
The event was attended by representatives of the municipalities in the region, The Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, the State Environmental Inspectorate, the Cultural Heritage Administration at the Ministry of Culture, the Center for Development of the East Planning Region, the Spatial Planning Agency, ELEM, by representatives of the private sector in the region, of the Nature Conservation Program in Macedonia and by others.
The event was opened by Dragica Zdraveva – Director of the Center for Development of the East Planning Region, and introductory statements and addresses concerning the objectives of the hearing were given by the representatives of the Department for Spatial Planning at The Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, Sasho Apostolov and Dejan Gadzovski.
The strategic document, the Spatial Plan of the East Planning Region – Draft Plan was presented by the Spatial Planning Agency, while the Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment Report was presented by the developer, the company Decons Ema.
After the presentations, discussion followed with questions, remarks and comments concerning the documents.
The Spatial Plan is an importat strategic document for the spatial development of the region, providing guidance on the intent, use, protection, organization, development and managment of the space in the region. It comprises 18 expert reports covering various areas, and it is the first spatial plan adopted in the country, based on the exquisite biological diversity of this region.
