The Nature Conservation Programme in Macedonia presented at the first “Forest Fest” in Berovo
The first “Forest Fest” – festival for promotion of family forestry as a value – took place on 7 and 8 December 2013 in Berovo and it was organised by the Association of Private Forest Owners, the foundation Connecting Natural Values and People (CNVP) and the Municipality of Berovo. The different aspects of forestry were presented through a range of activities: from its economic value through the promotion of secondary forest products to sustainable management and education.
On this forest fest, the Nature Conservation Programme in Macedonia had its exhibition stand where the residents of the Municipality of Berovo and the region were able to learn more about the Programme. At the open forum part of the event, Ms. Jasminka P. Andonovska, Local Activities Coordinator of the Nature Conservation Programme in Macedonia, held a presentation about the programme objectives and activities, as well as about the link between nature conservation and sustainable forest management. The presentation aroused great interest among the attendees, especially the part referring to the opportunities for implementation of specific actions for conservation of natural values in forests.
