Tips for a summer of research
Nice weather, warm long days, clear skies and a multitude of activities in nature make summer an ideal period for exploring and learning in nature and getting to know the living world. Getting to know nature is an activity for which there are no age limits, and in addition to being fun and educational, it is almost free. Anyone can head to the nearest forest, meadow or even a city park and explore the endless secrets of the living world around us. Natural science is especially interesting for children, so exploring the living world, walking or hiking are great activities for the family and a way to use the good weather.
Bird feeder
Some of the birds are present here throughout the year, and some of them migrate. During the summer, the largest number of birds are present in our skies. In order to get to know their life, we can place a bird feeder on the balcony, window or in the yard. Birds will visit the feeder, and we can enjoy their presence.
Butterfly feeder
Butterflies are one of the most colorful and beautiful insects in nature. Because of the way they move, but also because of the coloring of their wings, they can be studied and researched more easily. In order to have the opportunity to get to know them up close, we can set up a butterfly feeder. Very simply, we place several ropes on a plastic or cardboard plate in order to hang the plate hanging freely in space. We put a few pieces of fresh summer fruit on the plate. It remains to wait for the butterflies to find the fruit and while they are sweetening, we have the opportunity to study and photograph them.
Observation of night fliers
Warm summer nights are full of different types of insects in the air. To be able to see some of them, we will only need to light a small lamp or lamp facing a white or light wall in the dark. The light will attract the insects and we will be able to enjoy all their colors and shapes.
