New equipment and off-road vehicles to contribute for efficient management of Osogovo mountains and Maleshevo protected areas by pe national forests

Ponikva, in the Osogovo Mountains, today hosted the presentation of the new equipment and the off-road vehicles for the manager of the Osogovo Mountains and Maleshevo protected areas – PE National Forests, provided with Swiss support through the Nature Conservation Programme (NCP).

Strengthening the capacities of PE National Forests for sustainable management of the Osogovo Mountains and Maleshevo protected areas is one of the priorities in the Protected Areas Management Plans, which in addition to the provision of adequate equipment, also includes training for the persons that will implement the activities. This will improve the efficiency of the manager PE National Forests to achieve the set goals in cooperation with the municipalities and other stakeholders.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning (MOEPP), the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy (MAFWE), the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency, the Public Enterprise National Forests (PENF), the Centre for Development of the East Planning Region (CDEPR), the Mayor of the Kochani Municipality, representatives of Farmahem, the Macedonian Ecological Society (MES) and local stakeholders.

The event was organized by PE National Forests, with the support of the Nature Conservation Programme (NCP), a project by the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC) and coordinated by Farmahem.
