Two-day workshop on development of agrotourism in the Bregalnica region

As part of the Nature Conservation Programme in North Macedonia – exit phase, a two-day workshop on agrotourism was held on 10 and 11 June 2021 in Kochani, under the mentorship of agrotourism expert professor Christian Baumgartner from the University of Applied Sciences Graubünden in Switzerland.

Together with professor Baumgartner the participants worked on ideas for active, agro and ecotourism in the Bregalnica region and developed draft integrated tourist offers which the Programme intends to support for successful implementation.

The event was opened by the Mayor of the Municipality of Kochani, Mr. Nikolcho Ilijev, while the attendees were acquainted with the activities of the Nature Conservation Programme, the majority of which are focused on the development of agro and ecotourism in the region.

The participants were introduced with successful international examples of agrotourism and shown how agrotourism is organised and developed in protected areas in the region and Europe.

The participants worked in working groups on potential integrated tourist offers for products and services in the Bregalnica region by bringing together several service providers and compiling joint offers for domestic and foreign tourists interested in active vacations in this region.

The ideas for integrated tourist offers that were initiated at the workshop will be developed into specific proposal projects and will be supported by the Programme.

The workshop was organised by the Nature Conservation Programme in North Macedonia –exit phase, a project of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), coordinated by Farmahem.
