Hiking and Environmental Protection

Hiking has an important role in ecological education and raising environmental awareness. By being outdoors people can grasp faster the significance of th environment. Often, when hiking, people have the feeling of respect for nature, which makes them think about the value of ecosystems and biodiversity.

Hiking is an activity with a double meaning. It helps with the fight for healthy environment, as well as improves one’s psychological and physical health. Hiking and climbing uphill activate almost all body muscles, so that this aerobic exercise improves the functioning of the heart, the lungs and the muscles. People usually hike in company, which contributes to stress relief, blood pressure regulation and helps with forming new brain synapses, important for better concentration and thinking.

However, hiking can also have a negative impact on the environment. That is why the recommendation is to always follow marked trails. This means you are less likely to get lost and upset wildlife as well.

Lighting campfires or cooking over fire should be avoided in the mountains because of the possibility to cause forest fires. Camping should be in existing campsites, and if there are no such camps, then in open sites without cutting local vegetation. Of course, leaving any type of waste is strictly forbidden.

With these recommendations we can enjoy ourselves outdoors and learn something without leaving permanent marks on nature.
