Ecosystem services event held
One of the goals of the Nature Conservation Programme in Macedonia – phase 2 is the development and testing of a payment mechanism for ecosystem services. As part of the activities for achieving this output, the Programme in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning (MEPP) organized an event about ecosystem services on 30 January 2018 (Tuesday) in Bushi Hotel. The aim of the event was to acquaint the key stakeholders in the Republic of Macedonia with the general policies for ecosystem services, payment for ecosystem services, positive and negative experiences and lessons learned from the implementation of payment schemes for ecosystem services in the countries in the region.
Marjana Suslevska, the Programme team leader, Daniela Kamceva from the Department for Nature with the MEPP, Zoran Mateljak and Hillary Cottrill from WWF Adria/Udruga Dinarica and Julia Grigorova from Bulgaria gave presentations at the event. More than 60 participants from various stakeholders attended, such as ministries, inspectorates, public enterprises, scientific institutions, national parks, current MEPP projects, NGOs, the private sector, etc.
